Conisboro’ Shop Theft

Florence Miller, Peak Avenue Conisborough, appeared before the Doncaster magistrates on Tuesday charged with having stolen clothing, valued 2s. 6d., from the Conisborough shop of David Haigh, Ltd., last Friday.

Inspector Redfern said the woman went to the shop and after pledging some clothing, went out. The manager. William Henry Hodges, immediately afterwards missed a parcel of clothing and on chasing the woman found she had taken it.

The woman, in evidence, said she was very upset because her husband had left her. She needed money to return to London.

The Bench bound over the woman for a year.
