Conisboro’ woman talks about votes
“Wait till women get votes,” declared Mrs Kate Armshaw, of Conisbrough, when the magistrates fined her sixpence and 7/6 costs for driving minus a light.
On Monday at 720, PC Grundy saw her galloping through the village. He shouted after her, but she said “Gee up” to the pony and applied the whip. The constable took to his heels and after a race that fairly fagged him out he caught up with the vehicle.
Mrs Armshaw said she heard no one didn’t see the constable
Superintendent Hickes remarked that he probably would not have brought the case if she had stopped when called upon.
“I wouldn’t spoil my drive for any man, said the defendant who was dealt with as stated.
