Conisborough and Denaby Notes – Manager ill – Cinderella Dance – Musical Society

November 1896

Conisborough and Denaby Notes

Mr Martin, manager of the co-operative stores Denaby Main, is reported to be dangerously ill.

Cinderella Dance at Conisborough

The dancing fraternity spent a very enjoyable night in the boarding schools on Friday, when a Cinderella’s dance was given, Mr John Forrest acting as M. C.

Dancing commenced at 8 pm and continued until 12, about 60 being present. Music was supplied by Mr H. Marshall’s band.

Conisborough Musical Society.

The musical Society seem to be in a poor way at present, the first practice called for Monday last was a decided failure, only about a dozen members putting in an appearance. Most of them being new ones.

Neither the conductor, secretary, nor president being present. In the absence of these gentlemen there was no practice.

At present things point to the abandonment of the class, which would be a great pity, as a good and useful society might be got together, provided harmony reigned amongst them.

It is to be hoped that the efforts will yet be made to avoid the total collapse of the society.
