Hanby’s Bowling Feat.

Conisborough easily beat Kilnhurst at Conisborough on Saturday. Jack Hanby took 7 wickets for 12 runs and Geoffrey Soar scored an unblemished 41. These two left-handers were the outstanding players and Conisborough won by 53 runs.
Hanby’s total of wickets for the season is now 56. They cost him 274 runs, an average of 4.89. He holds the Doncaster League (second division) medal for the best bowling in last season, when he took 71 wickets for 273 runs – a record for the competition. He is a medium-paced bowler and incidentally, a prominent local footballer, playing back.
Soar hit a six and five fours. In eight innings this season he has scored 240 runs, his best being 81 against Maltby on July 10. In the winter he is a keen hockey player.
