A Conisborough Case Dismissed

Mary Ann Purdy, married woman, Conisborough, was charged with being drunk and disorderly at Conisborough on the 24th June.

Defendant pleaded not guilty.

P.C. Hirst said that on the date in question he saw the defendant drunk, cursing and swearing about 11.30 at night. Defendant refused to go home. Other witnesses corroborated the evidence.

The defendant contradicted everything, and said it was the witnesses who were drunk.

Robert Nines, for the defence, said that the defendant was stunned by a blow from one of the witnesses for the prosecution.

Several other witnesses were called.

The Chairman said that as there was so much conflicting evidence the case would be dismissed.
