Conisborough Conservative Association.
On Friday night the annual meeting of the Conisborough Conservative Association was held at the Star Inn, Dr. Hills, the President in the chair.
Mr. Williams, the secretary, read a satisfactory balance sheet.
Mr. G. Walker proposed the re-election of Dr. Hills as president of Association and said they could not do better than re-elect him.
Mr. Goodlad seconded, and was unanimously agreed to.
Mr. G. Walker, Major Johnson, Mr. G. Nicholson, Mr. J. Birth, Mr. W. H. Chambers, and Mr. F. Ogley were appointed vice-presidents.
On the proposition of the Chairman, Messrs. T. Booth and Williams were re-elected joint hon. secretaries, and Mr. J. Gillatt was re-elected treasurer.
A committee was appointed as follows: Messrs. Warburton, G. Walker, Baker, Guest, H. Guest, Anderton, Smith, Goodlad, Addy, Richardson, Snipes, and Monks.
Arrangements were then made for holding a demonstration in Crookhill Park (subject permission being obtained from Mrs. Woodyear) on Whit-Tuesday, and it was resolved to invite the Hon. H. W. Fitzwilliam, MP., to attend.
A resolution was carried expressing the opinion that was desirable that a branch of the Primrose League should be formed in Conisborough.
Mr. Warburton proposed a vote of in the Government.
Mr. G. Walker seconded, and Mr. J, J. Dunne (Doncaster) supported the resolution, which was adopted unanimously.
Sir. J. H. Bottomley proposed a vote thanks to the president, and in the course of his remarks said that he had never known greater activity displayed by the various associations than at the present time. In the Wales district some who voted against Mr. Fitzwilliam at the last election had changed their opinions, and had applied to be admitted members of the Conservative Association. If they found that taking place in colliery district, he had no doubt there was similar feeling in other parts of the division
