After playing 20 games in the Doncaster League and only meeting one defeat, three being drawn, the Conisborough senior team were defeated in the semi-final by Warmsworth at Tickhill on Saturday.
On the whole the team have had a successful season, having unearthed two young useful batsmen in Jack Curtis (18) and Les Williams (14). Curtis scored five and 50 runs in 17 innings made 100 not out against Aldwarke Park at Aldwarke. He followed with’s 83 against Ravenfield at Ravenfield, his highest score on the home ground being 51 against Wickersley. He heads the batting list with an average of 36.66. Williams was still at school, has an average of 12.5
Teddy Hancock, the Burnley football, scored 262 runs in 13 innings for an average of 20.1. The bowling also showed a big improvement, Jeffcote heading the list with 58 wickets for an average of 8.27.
The team scored 3568 runs for the loss of 157 wicket, an average of 22.72 per wicket, while their opponents scored 16974 188 wickets, an average of 9.02 per wicket. A more, the wicket-keeper, took the most catches (40) and stumped 2.
