Conisborough F C – The Boys Of The Castle Town.

February 1896

Mexborough & Swinton Times, February 14, 1896

The Boys Of The Castle Town.

They’re a plucky, game eleven.
Are the lads of ‘Castle’ town,
And it’s never very easy
To take the young ‘uns down,

For they’re tryers to the finish,
And visit them who may
You can bet your bottom dollar
That the lads will make ’em play.

They have shown the Thornhill fellows
They are made of sterling stuff,
And on Saturday the battle
Was stern and grim and tough.

But Conisborough were victors,
For they meant it every one.
And they well-deserved their conquest
To the tune of two to none

May the black and amber flourish,
For its wearers they are brave,
They deserve success, and therefore
Long may their colours wave.

Then here’s to little Conisborough,
May none e’er take ’em down,
And may they ever conquer –
Those boys of ‘Castle’ town.
