Conisborough Farmers Potatoes Stolen

Oswald Tomlinson, a Conisborough miner, was fined shillings at Doncaster on Tuesday, for having stolen potatoes, the property of Samuel Braithwaite, farmer, of Conisborough, on October 13.

PC Hibbott said he saw Tomlinson come from a field belonging to Braithwaite, carrying a bag of potatoes. Tomlinson said that it was the first time yet stolen anything. He had nothing in the house, as children were crying for food.

For similar offences William Ellis, Peter Henderson and Robert Hendley, Conisborough miner’s, fined 40 shillings each.
