Conisborough Gospel Temperance Mission.

The Rev. A. G. Marmeat has just held a very successful mission at this place, supported by the ministers and local friends. A good number of pledges have been taken.

On Wednesday evening week Mr. George Appleyard proposed the following resolutions, which were unanimously passed:

(1). ‘That this meeting is of opinion that no system of licensing reform will either be effectual or satisfactory that does not give to the people themselves the direct veto over all licences for the sale of intoxicating drink in their resolution localities.’

(2.) ‘That the chairman forward copies of the resolution to the Government and to Mr. W. S. Shirley, M.P. for this division, asking for their support.’
