Conisborough Innkeeper in Trouble.

November 1891

Mexborough & Swinton Times, November 27th, 1891

A Conisborough Innkeeper in Trouble.

John Williams, landlord of the Star Inn, Conisborough, was charged with having permitted drunkenness on licensed premises.

Mr. Hall defended.

It was stated that, on the 12th November, a man was supplied with two pennyworth of spirits by the daughter while the landlord was away.

Mr. Hall handed to the magistrates a petition signed by a number of persons living in Conisborough, speaking well of the way the defendant conducted his house and asking that the defendant should be leniently dealt with.

The Chairman said under the circumstances only the costs would be imposed, but such an offence must not occur again.
