Conisborough Man and His Gun

A Conisborough miner, Charles Wootton, was summoned for a breach of the Poaching Prevention Act. He did not appear.

Sgt Playfoot said that 4:45 on Sunday afternoon February 4, he was in Common Lane, Cadeby, when he saw the defendant, and suspecting him of having been in pursuit of game, he stopped and searched him, finding a single barrelled gun and some cartridges.

Superintendent Minty said last week the defendant was fined 20 shillings for a similar offence.

He was now ordered to pay 20 shillings, the Bench ordering the confiscation of the gun.
