The Doncaster Borough magistrates, on Monday, dealt severely with William Hands, of Conisbrough, who it was alleged had just come out of prison, and was now charged with stealing a dozen shirts valued at 3s. from the shop of Foster Bros., in Printing Office Street, Doncaster.

Prisoner pleaded not guilty, and evidence was given by the shop assistant who said he received a communication that a theft had been committed and going to the door noticed prisoner running up the street with the bundle of shirts (produced) in his arms, he gave chase and met a constable in Spring Gardens who took prisoner to the Police Station.

He was committed to prison for three months.
