Conisborough Notes

Fire Engine

The question as to what firm should supply the fire engine which we Conisborough are in need off seems to exercise the minds of our Parish Councillors in no small degree. Those two gentlemen who took the trouble to go and inspect engines and appliances of the various firms who tended, was taking a very great interest in the matter, and no doubt their gratuitous labours will be properly appreciated.

The result of the voting is singular. The committee appointed by an engine by a 41 majority, recommended a certain engine will stop the Council decide to ask the proper authority to supply another. I think the usual courses, is the matter has not been sufficiently thrashed out, to send it back to the committee.

Dog bite

There was a cry of  “mad dog” on Saturday evening, and I hear that a man named Glasby was bitten somewhat badly.

Streetlight

Once again are our streets innocent of light after nightfall. The contract ended with the wild month of March and has not yet been renewed. Our condition is pitiful. When we were then used to luxuries we managed to steer by wall and edge, but now that we have tasted the sweets of light, we find it hard to turn to our original condition of darkness.
