Parties

The usual breaking up parties were held in the various schools during the week, and the children had a jolly send-off for Christmas in gailey decorated classrooms. Morley place boys were very lucky, for as part of the church premises are utilised by them as a temporary school, the vicar offered the loan of the church hall for tea and so all were able to sit down together in ideal surroundings.

Concert

There was a good attendance at the Balby Street School on Friday for the evening performance of the concert by the infants department. Mr T whole crop presided and announced that the effort had raise nearly £10 which would be devoted to Christmas treats and school funds.

He congratulated Miss Williams (headmistress) and her staff upon the splendid programme, settings and costumes.

The Nursery Class give a scene “The Christmas Toys.” Annie Beasley was the fairy doll, Peter Downey was chief toy and conducted the children to the Christmas tree. The other items which were well done by children so young reflected credit upon the training of the staff. Special mention should also be made of the performance of the percussion band (Class 1A)
