Conisborough Notes

A whole batch of Cadeby Colliery employees appeared in Doncaster Police Court on Saturday, charged with trespassing on the Great Central Railway, whilst proceeding to their employment.

The railway company had no difficulty in securing convictions in the hall of the cases. Time and again have workmen been had up for the same difference, yet the practice of crossing the line still continues, but it is probable that this will be the last time that such cases will need to be taken to Doncaster, as a new bridge crossing the line near the station, and communicating with the colliery, is nearing completion, and will soon be available for use.

A child about sixteen years of age, residing with its parents in Glasshouse Buildings, was so severely burned on Sunday morning that it succumbed to his terrible injuries. It appears that the little one and only been downstairs a short while, when by some means it got its nightgown ignited, and before the flames could be extinguished it was so badly burnt that it never recovered from the shock.
