Conisborough Parish.
The monthly meeting of the Conisbrough Parish was held last night. Mr, Holmes presiding.
A vote of condolence with Mr. Hirst, member the Council, on the recent loss of his wife, was passed, and the Clerk was directed to inform the absent member the Council’s sympathy
lt was decided that legal proceedings be taken against an allotment holder named Samson, who had failed to pay his rent.
A letter was read from the General Post Office sanctioning a day mail to and from Denaby Main; letters would be delivered the road between the post office and Conisbrough Station, but would have to be called for other inhabitants Denaby Main; Sunday delivery could however only be granted on receipt of a memorial from the persons receiving not less than two thirds the correspondence received by the district.
The fire brigade made application for a grant to assist them in attending the Yorkshire Fire Brigades’ Association annual demonstration at Halifax.
The Clerk said he must warn the Council to be careful what they were doing with their money.
He wanted £13 17s that night for Parish Council work, and they had only £5 in the hank. (Hear, hear.)
It was ultimately decided to make a grant of five shillings per man.
Prior to the Council meeting a Burials Committee was held, at which cheques for £15 5s 10d and several grants of right were signed, and Mr. Singleton was appointed Cemetery manager.
