Conisborough Senior Girls School
Distribution of Prizes
The distribution of prizes to the girls all the Conisborough senior school, took place yesterday, the Rev W.J.T.Pascoe presiding.
The Rev W.J.T.Pascoe prefaced his remarks by declaring that he was addressing what was probably his last public gathering before leaving Conisborough.
He had no text to give the girls but he wanted to impress upon them that they were all spiritual beings. He thought it was wrong of people to divide the world into material categories. He preferred to divide everybody into the contented and the discontent. The contented people he said were spiritually dead. In Conisborough they were suffering from such doctrines. In his opinion, Conisborough was badly made, badly fed and badly paved as though nobody had bothered about it. He preferred people who were discontented with things as they were. He hoped that when the girls left school they would strive to make the world a better place.
Miss GE Packwood, the endless was, gave her annual report, saying the year be comparatively uneventful. They could be proud of the five girls who had one County Minor scholarships, and four girls were run transfer scholarship. She congratulated the local education committee upon their successful fight for extensions and further amenities. She was proud to report that the number of prizes for good attendance throughout the year had increased from 5 to 11.
Mrs MJ Wright, a member of the Conisborough Education Committee praised the cooperation between Miss Packwood and her staff. She expressed pleasure that so many parents were present.
Mrs Wright then presented the prizes.
The school choir then sang the songs, “The wind” and “Rilloby Rill.”
