Road Query at Conisbro’
May be Tunnel or Fly-Over
The proposed Conisbrough bypass may take the form of a “flyover” or tunnel beneath Crookhill Road, Conisbrough.
At a meeting between Conisbrough Urban Council officials and Ministry of Housing and Local Government representatives at Wakefield, the Council’s wish to zone land south of Crookhill Road for housing was discussed.
It was stated that in 1955 the County Planning Officer had promised to take steps to alter the course of the proposed by-pass, so that it would run south of land owned by the Council. The Ministry agreed to take the matter up with the Ministry of Transport, giving their support. On the present basis, however, development beyond the line of the proposed by-pass would not be permitted.
A different view might be taken, it was stated, if the by-pass was constructed by means of a “fly -over” or tunnelling beneath Crookhill Road.
