Conisbro’ Saved £153,311 In A Year Annual Meeting Reports.

Total amount saved in Conisbrough over the past twelve months was £153,311. This was reported by the secretary of Conisbrough local savings committee at their annual meeting on Tuesday Miss M. L. Trafford said this was an increase of £8,616 over the figure for the same period of the previous year, and that the population of Conisbrough saved £8 16s. 11d. per head during the year.

Miss Trafford regretfully reported the loss of 133 members, one school group, and five street groups, though, she said, they had gained one street group.

She said they were second in the constituency, with a population savings of 30.2% following Rawmarsh, who had over 50%.

They have now 59 groups in Conisbrough and Denaby, 32 street groups, 10 employment groups, nine social groups and eight school groups, and a total membership of 5,240.

Miss M. L. Trafford and Mr. T. C. Campbell were re-elected secretary and treasurer respectively.

Committee elected was: Street groups, Mr. Thomas, Mesdames E. Gregory, N. Grindle, C. Fletcher, M. Lunn, A. Oldfield, F. Robson, A. Taylor and J. Proctor (chairman), Miss O. I. Hilbourne and Miss J. Beachill; industrial groups, Mr. C. W. Harget and Mr. W. Lewis; publicity, Mr. L. Basendale and Mr. E. Cromack; social and hospitality, Mesdames A. Oldfield and A. Taylor; urban council, Mrs. F. M. Roberts and Coun. T. Hill; social groups, Mr. W. Grindle; Press secretary, Mr. J. Brocksom.

It was decided that Mrs. M. Waters and Miss M. L. Trafford be delegates at the N.E. Regional Conference in Scarborough on October 5th and 6th. Mrs. Oldfield and Mrs. Lunn were elected deputy delegates.

Delegates at the Constituency Meetings at Rotherham will be Mr. J. Proctor (chairman) and Mrs. A. Taylor and deputy Miss Trafford.
