Conisbro’s First Citizen
Coun. R. H. Shephard was elected chairman of Conisbrough Urban Council for the fourth time at the annual meeting on Wednesday. Coun P. E. Dyson was elected vice-chairman.
Tribute was paid to the retiring chairman, County Coun. J. Prendergast. by several councillors. Conn. David Sheldon saying he had been an “ideal chairman all the way through”.
The clerk, Mr. R. F. Edwardson, said Coun. Prendergast had set a standard “which might be equalled but which will probably riot be surpassed”.
