Conisbrough Exhibition of School Art and Craft Work
An arts and crafts exhibition showing the work of children in infants, junior and senior schools in Conisbrough and Denaby was opened on Monday by the divisional Education Officer, Mr. E. Stockdale.
Over 3,000 children from 14 schools, are represented in the exhibition, which includes paintings, sketches, crayon, pen and ink work, pencil work, needlework, pottery, and wood-work, woodcarving, group model making, paper and raffia and basket work ,
Mr. Stockdale, congratulated the children on their “wonderful work” He said the West Riding county Art Adviser Mr. G. B. Roam visited the exhibition and said he was “extremely pleased with the quality of the exhibits.”
One exhibit is a realistic wood carving of a crocodile carved front a tree root from the school garden by two 12-years-old boys of Conisbrough Northcliffe Modern school, Another notable exhibit is a mural painting of Cadeby Colliery and the Don Valley up to the kindly provide up by two 15-Year old boys.
During school hours this week the children from all the schools visited the exhibition and event had been home to the public in the evening. It is open tonight (Friday) for the last time
