Conisbrough Church May Be Showroom

The old Primitive Methodist Church in Old Hill, Conisbro’ was sold last week-end for an undisclosed sum to a Doncaster firm specialising in electrical appliances. It is believed that they will shortly be opening the hall as a showroom.

Although closed as a Church for five years the premises have been used by Conisbrough Wesley Methodist Church Youth Club with a section of the Sunday School. Now the club are moving up to Wesley Church.

To a “South Yorkshire Times” reporter the Rev. G. M. Watson, Methodist Minister at Conisbrough, said the sale would mean the church would be more settled and centralised.

All the youth club equipment had been moved up to Wesley Church except a large billiard table which had been returned to its owners.

The new premises are of about the same size but kitchen facilities were better, and for special functions, the main hall would be easily accessible
