Conisbrough Couple’s Pools Win Means New Home
A house and furniture for a penny was the dream of Mr William Robson (22), a young married man and his wife, who are living with parents.
Now that dream has almost materialised as Mr Robson has won first dividend with his father in law Mr Bernard Higgins, of £1241 in a football pool.
Mr Robson and his wife now have enough money to pay the deposit on their house and to buy all their furniture. They expect to move into their new home at 129, Doncaster Road, Conisbrough, next week, “Without this win we would have been buying on hire purchase for ages,” said Mr Robson.
With his father in law Mr Bernard Higgins (42), of 56 Cliff View, Denaby, Mr Robson shared a 10s. permutation on this penny treble chance. Mr Higgins has a filled in the pools for 10 years and Mr Robson for two years. Neither has had a win before. There win came on in the second week of trying out a new perm.
It just starts off on the right path in our new home said Mr Robson, a railway signalman at Rotherham. Mr Higgins, a ripper at Denaby Main colliery, will spend his share of the money on redecorating and buying new furniture for his home. The cheque arrived by registered letter in Denaby last Tuesday.
