Conisbrough Critics
A reply made at Conisbrough Urban Council meeting on Monday by Coun. T. Davey (picture), Allotments Committee chairman, to criticism that “the same names appeared in the allotment prize list year after year.”
Coun. Davey explained that the Council had approximately 900 allotments and less than 50 entries for the competition. The Council gave 28 prizes. “Is there any wonder that you get the same names every year if there are 850 who are not interested” he asked.
Postal Facilities
The Assistant Postmaster, Doncaster, has advised the Council that the extension of telegraph facilities at Conanby Post Office had been authorised and would be introduced together with money order business on October 1st.
T.A. Centre
The West Riding Territorial Association have informed the Council that they have every hope of being able to obtain the necessary authority to build the T.A. Centre in Old Road, Conisbrough, in permanent traditional construction.
Sub-Station
A plan for a proposed sub-station for the Yorkshire Electricity Board in Lewes Road, Conisbrough, has been approved.
Housing
The Local Authority have also approved a plan submitted by Mr. J. Butler, Ellershaw Road, Conisbrough, for a proposed detached house. An application, the company by plans, for a building licence, submitted from Mr. P. E. Marshall Castle Cottage, Conisbrough, is to be filed in order when I the plans are received.
Nursery
The Council are to accept an offer to rent land adjoining Low Road from the tenant of The Terrace for use as a horticultural nursery for the sum of £1 per annum subject to consent being obtained.
Uncultivated Gardens
The Surveyor, Mr. A. W. R. Taylor, as written to a number of tenants in The Oval estate about their uncultivated gardens.
Craggs Tip
The Craggs Tip is to be treated to eradicate crickets.
