Golden Wedding
Double event

Mr. and Mrs. E. Exton. Of 71, Lime Grove, Conisbrough, celebrated their Golden wedding on Monday.

Mrs. Exton celebrates her 80th birthday on Saturday, so to combine the celebrations they are having a family party on Sunday, with their three children and five grandchildren.

Mrs Exton remembers the day when she rode in the first Austin car, when she was a nurse to the children of Sir Albert Austin.

The couple were married in the Conisbrough Parish Church and have lived in Conisbrough since. For 50 years Mr. Exton worked at Cadeby colliery as a miner and was awarded a long service medal when he left in 1947.

All the family have been prominentmembers of the Conisbrough Parish Church and the three children were married and christened there, the five grandchildren were christened there and one has been married there.

Mrs. Exton is a member of the over 60s club and of the mother’s union. Mr. Exton is a member of Conisbrough British Legion and the allotment society.

Conisbrough Urban Council approved the appointment of Mr. W. Clark, of three, Warren Road, Conisbrough, as a full-time swimming baths attendant at their meeting on Monday evening.

Mr. Clark succeeds Mr. S. Jones at Denaby Bath’s.
