After 17 years in general practice in Conisbrough, Dr Douglas Clark, M.B., Ch. B., is to emigrate to Canada early in October.

Dr Clark came to the area in May 1949 and has been in partnership with various doctors in the same practice ever since. One partner in the practice, Dr Kevin Beveridge, emigrated to Canada earlier this year, but Dr Clark is not to join him in practice there.

With Dr Clark will go his wife, Beatrice, and his two sons, Ian (16) and Colin (11). The two boys will continue their education in Canada.

Dr Clark who is to join a six man group practice connected with a general hospital in Oshawa, on the north shore of Lake Ontario, said at his home, “The Walled Garden,” Thrybergh this week: “I am not emigrating because of any disagreement with the National Health Service; I think it is very good thing but in Canada I will be able to spend longer with my patients and will have hospital facilities.

The family intend to live in a hotel until they can find a suitable home. Dr Clark added; “It is a very big wrench leaving South Yorkshire and all the friends we have here, but I felt that, if I did not make a move now I never will. We will always out happy memories of this area.”
