Conisbrough Hospital Sunday

47 years ago the first hospital Sunday demonstration was held in Conisbrough, and now after that long period comes a break in the continuity. For some years the parade has been dwindling and it does not come as a surprise to learn that the committee had been reluctantly compelled to abandon the function this year, owing to lack of support.

The Sunday schools have now joined other public bodies who have found themselves unable to join the procession, and for the children there is some justification, for the walk round the district left many fatigued.

The abandonment of the parade will affect the funds available for the hospitals, but unfortunately that is another way to make good the deficiency. The collective as well as usual traverse the district with their books, and with hopes of augmented donations under the circumstances it is also whole that when flowers are sold at the end of the month the facts will be remembered and bigger prices paid accordingly.

The proceeds are distributed among the Sheffield and Doncaster Royal Libraries and the Fullerton Hospital, Denaby Main.
