Breedon through to Final

Barry Breedon is through to the final of the 4000 metres pursuit racing championship of the North Midlands division of the B.C.F. with a great chance of giving Conisbrough Ivanhoe C.C. their third post war success in this annual championship.

Shaun Ryan won the title in the Ivanhoe’s colours in 1959, and Tony Moffat won the following year.

In the semi-final of the championship at the South Yorkshire Track League meeting on the Askern Welfare track, Barry beat Peter Wilkinson (Sheffield Sports C.C.) in 5 min 58.6 seconds – the best time in the series.

Away Wins for South Yorkshire Teams

Conisbrough Ivanhoe and Rockingham C.C.dominating. South Yorkshire time trial racing between them since the start of the season, quit the local scene last Sunday to score two splendid “away” wins in Oxfordshire and Lincolnshire.

Conisbrough Ivanhoe can take top billing. However, for their convincing win in the high Wycombe’s C.C’s open “25” on the Oxfordshire course where a fortnight hence the National 25 mile championship will be decided.

Barry Breedon, their champion, sat back to top form to win the race in 58 min six seconds – one of the fastest ride in the whole country on the day of my wins – and Bryan Hodkin and Eric Wright gave him good support for a team race win.

A Boost.

It was a success to boost Breedon’s chances in the title race, for though there is going to be tremendous competition for the big event on May 31, few if any contenders have better credentials.
