Lovely to see this! Mrs Humphries was my mother and I remember several children from the photograph. I was just a few years ahead.
My grandma lived in The prefabs in Elm Green Lane, her surname was Ashton, my Uncle was called Malcolm Ashton and he went to that school. but the date on the photo 1961 doesn’t tally as he was older, wondering if it was one of his sons, believe he had 5 boys?
Have been trying for years to track down that side of my family.
In the 1961 photo, my late wife Julie Neal is actually sixth from the left, not third from the left as the description suggests (assuming the names were listed from left to right). In the 1959 photo she is fifth from the left in the third row back (on the teacher’s right).
P.S. You reproduce a newspaper photo of the 1959 Crowning of the Rose Queen of Conisbrough Parish Church. I have some actual prints of that ceremony taken in the church grounds. Would you like copies? If so how do I get them to you?
