Conisbrough St Peters 2  Thurnscoe 0

Last Saturday afternoon I went into the Conisbrough football field to see the Saint Peters play their League match with Thurnscoe. The game was advertised to commence at 3 o’clock, but it was after 3:30 before the teams put in an appearance. This was owing to the late arrival of the visitors.

Just fancy starting to play a game at nearly 4 o’clock. Why it is too dark to play at half past four, at this time of the year, consequently the last half of the game was played in darkness.

Is there no penalty for teams not being ready to for play at the appointed time? If not then ought to be, as it is not very nice for the spectators to have to stand in this cold weather nearly an hour waiting for the game to commence. This late start has a tendency to keep the spectators away.

I was very pleased to see that the committee had included in the team one or two old players. As far as I saw of the game on Saturday the inclusion of that old player Albert Wood amongst the forwards greatly improved the team. I was very pleased to see our local lads play so well and when the whistle sounded they have won a well contested game by two goals to nil.
