Conisbrough Saves More in 1955
Mr J Proctor, chairman of Conisbrough Local Savings Committee, reported that last Friday night’s meeting the total amount of savings in the urban district during 1955:
£17,988 in Savings Certificates,
£6,300 in Defence Bonds,
£61,772 in Trustee Bank deposit and
£62,974 in the Post Office.
This gave an increase over 1954 of:
£3,551 in Savings Certificates,
£2,645 in Defence Bonds,
£2,944 in Trustee Bank deposit and
£2,358 in the Post Office,
Which gave the total amount of increase of £11,498 of the amount saved in 1954.
It was agreed by the committee that in near future a presentation of a 25 years long service badge, should be made to Mr E Dabbs, a life member of the committee.
Mr J.F.Jones M.P.E.reported that on February 20 for the Savings rally is to building Rotherham, when members of each district committee are invited to be present. The speaker at the Rally will be Sir Hubert Holdsworth.
Mr John also informed the committee that on March 26 a “Street and Village Group Conference” will be held in this Civic All leads and Mrs M Fletcher was nominated as delegate to attend on behalf of Conisbrough.
A report was given by Mrs A Oldfield on the regional conference which was held in October in Scarborough.
