Conisbrough Smallpox Precautions.

For the next month chickenpox will be a notifiable disease at Conisbrough and Denaby. Resolution to this effect was taken last night by Conisbrough Urban Council.

The Clerk (Mr. R. W. Birch) explained that the resolution requested was of a temporary character, and had arisen over a case of suspected smallpox at Doncaster. The medical officer (Dr. D. T. Clarke) required the right to make inspections of premises and certify that cases were not cases of smallpox.

Coun. H. Gomersall said that the case of suspected smallpox was within easy access of Conisbrough and he thought it would be wise to pass this measure temporarily and take all the necessary steps they could to try to prevent smallpox coming into the district.

County Coun. B. Roberts, J.P., hoped the Doncaster case was not a case of smallpox, but it was better to take precautions.
