Keep to be Closed
Conisbrough Castle Safeguard
Councillor a Wellings, chairman of Conisbrough Urban Council’s allotments and pleasure grounds committee, announced on Wednesday that Conisbrough Castle keep is to be closed to visitors until certain repairs are being carried out by the council’s surveyor (Mr A.W.R.Taylor)
The council were taking the step, Council Wellings explained, as a safeguard.
Councillor I Houghton said that after giving the Castle a thorough inspection the deputation which had visited the castle had decided to close the Keep temporarily until repairs are being attended to in the interests of the community.
Extra Bus
“We have got an extra bus for the workmen,” stated Councillor G Oldfield, General purposes committee chairman when he disclosed that in reply to previous a request to the Mexborough and Swinton traction Co Ltd , they had received a letter from the company says that revised schedules were ready to put into operation after agreement between management and employed and including the additional bus requested.
Dirty Bread
The Council confirmed a public health committee recommendation that, following complaints that bread was in some cases being delivered in the area in an unwrapped and dirty condition, the Clerk (Mr RW Birch) should communicate with the Ministry of Food asking that bread be wrapped before delivery
