Conisbrough’s £78,361

“Salute” Week Success

The final figure for the Salute the Solider campaign at Conisbrough, was £78,361.  The target figure was £65,000 and this was passed on the fifth day.  In the Wings for Victory campaign the target was £60,000 and the total raised was £83,927.

Full details of last week’s campaign are not yet to hand, but it is known that most of the groups exceeded their targets. Some outstanding results were obtained, particularly in the schools.  During the week, small savings accounted for £31,786 or 40 per cent of the total.  This is a decrease of £5,066 on the small savings figure during the Wings for Victory Campaign, when the percentage was 44.

The programme for the latter part of the week was carried out in its entirety with the exception of children’s sports, which were to have been on Tuesday.  At the Station Road Schools there was a dance given by the “A” and “B” Companies, 43rd W.R. Home Guard.
