Conisbrough’s Third Music Festival

About 250 people gathered in the grounds adjoining Conisbrough Castle on Sunday at the third annual festival to hear some of the well-known choirs of the district , sing choruses from “The Messiah,’ and other special hymns.

The speakers were Coun. J. T. E. Collins, who thanked the residents for their support and the conductor Mr. J. Castle and Coun. Mrs. M. Sherlock who thanked organisations for the splendid way they had contributed to the festival in aid of local charities.

The orchestra, led by Mr. Harry Smith, the Mexborough. Denaby and Edlington Evening Institute Choirs and the Woodlands Choral Society were conducted by Mr. J. Castle

The collections amounted to a little less than last year, but on the whole the festival was a gratifying success.

The committee, said Mr. Castle, would like to thank all organisations, clubs collectors and scouts for their help.
