Council Briefs.

The ambulance made 15 journeys in June covering 368 miles.

The water consumption during June was ten and a quarter million gallons, and average of 36.6 gallons per head per day, for 9,000 consumers.

There were 7 cases of scarlet fever and two of diphtheria noticed in the township during June.

Of the latest conversion scheme there are 28 completed conversions in Highfield Road, Clifton Hill, and Sheffield Road, and 30 in Bentinck Street, Burcroft, Low Road, and New Hill.

According to the report of the meat inspector refrigerators and electric fans are in general use and meat is keeping well despite the hot weather. During June 301 animal (including 45 lambs) were slaughtered for human consumption and five pigs were killed on private premises.

Air-tight covers are to replace the open-type covers in use on the manholes in Denaby Main, at an estimated cost of 150.

Additional Trolley vehicles put on for returning miners through the efforts of the Council have been much appreciated.

Councillors Oldfield, R. H. shepherd and Troughton are to select a suitable man for the position of bricklayer-foreman. The position is to be advertised.

Certificates are to be issued for the repair often houses in Sheffield Road.

A plan for a house in elm Green Land for Mrs. T. Dowing has been approved.

The Council are to give the North End and Thrybergh Terrace football clubs and opportunity to make offers for the use of land near the Denaby Sewage Works.
