Council Plan for ‘South Riding League’

the Yorkshire Council Management Committee have this week put forward the following scheme for the consideration of the 24 clubs concerned – a step towards the formation of a ‘South Riley League’ within the Yorkshire Cricket Council

Suggested divisions are:

1.    Denaby, Firbeck, Frickley, Hemsworth, Mexborough, Rockingham, Sheffield City Police, South Kirkby

2.    Ackworth, Askern, Bullcroft, Cortonwood, Elsecar, Swinton, Thorncliffe, Wath

  1.    Atlas and Norfolk, Brodsworth, Darfield, Bentley, Mitchells, Harwood, Shiregreen and Goole Town (provisional)

Each club would have 14 fixtures, with or without promotion and relegation on the two up and two down principle. The scheme could operate in 1948 and clubs to be asked for their comments by February 28.
