Conisborough.

Mr. Albert Liversidge, who defeated the retiring Labour member, Mrs. Kaye, in the West Ward, is a native of Mexborough and as a boy of 12 entered the service of J. Whittaker and Co., pawnbrokers & jewellers.

Later he opened the Denaby branch of that firm, and later still managed branches at Dalton Brook and at Bentley. During the war he served with the K.O.Y.L.I. and on demobilisation returned to the service of Whitaker’s as manager of their Denaby branch.

In 1927 he took over the drapery business of Edwards and Co.

He is very popular in the district, keenly interested in sport and a generous supporter of cricket, football, and ambulance work.,
