Councillor Honoured – Consultative Council

The West Riding County Council are recording Conisbrough’s county council Mr Ben Roberts J.P., a rare honour In nominating him to represent the County Council on the Consultative Council of the Yorkshire Electricity Board area under the Electricity Act 1947.

With County Coun. Roberts will be five other county councillors and two county aldermen.

The duty of consultative councils is to act in an advisory capacity to area electricity boards and to protect the interests of consumers. The West Riding county area is situated mainly in the Yorkshire Area Electricity Board area, but this area also includes practically the whole of the East Riding, more than half Lindsey (Lincolnshire) and small parts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.

At the request of the County Councils Association, the County Council have arranged with the County Councils concerned in the area that the West Riding Council shall put forward eight nominations out of 12 who are to represent the County authorities on the Board.
