Mr Ben Roberts (Labour), of Audrilea, Elm Green Lane, Conisbrough, who has been returned unopposed from Conisbrough division, has represented the district for 12 years.

He has been a member of Conisbrough Urban Council since 1930 and was chairman in 1933 to 34 and 1941 – 42. He has been a checkweighman at Cadeby Main Colliery for the past 19 years until he retired from office two years ago. Had for 17 years been President of Cadeby branch of the N.U.M. then the Y.M.A.

He was appointed a West Riding Magistrate in 1940, is chairman of Conisbrough Food Committee, a member of number 18 Divisional Education Executive, a manager of St Alban’s Catholic schools, Denaby, and was for a number of years associated with the former Conisbrough District Education Subcommittee.
