County Council Inquiry at Conisborough.
On Thursday Aid. J. W. Smithies and Councillors J. Barker and T. Townsend, who had been appointed a committee by the West Riding County Council, opened an inquiry at Conisborough as to an application by the Parish Council, that certain portions of the townships of Conisborough, Cadeby, and Denaby, should be constituted an urban district.
It will be remembered that some time ago Conisborough made a similar application, and despite a strong opposition by the Doncaster District Rural Council (with which Conisborough is at present connected) and the Denaby Main Colliery Co., the County Council held that the applicants had made out their case.
The opposition, however, appealed to the Local Government Board, who on account of the strong opposition declined to approve of the action of the County Council.
Conisborough, however, has determined to make another effort, the present scheme being somewhat different to the one put forward before. There is again, however, strong opposition.
