County Councillor Now
Coun. A. Haywood, vice-chairman of Conisbrough Urban Council, has been elected to the County Council.
County Coun. Haywood, as he is now, of 62, Braithwell Street, Denaby was unopposed in the election. He fills the vacancy created when the chairman of the Council, Ald. J. Prendergast, was raised to the County Aldermanic Bench.
Mr. Haywood, aged 43, has served on the Conisbrough authority for eight years, and for five has been chairman of the Public Health Committee. Employed at Denaby Main Colliery, he has been N.U.M. branch delegate for four years. He was nominated for the County Council by the Local Labour Party and by the Denaby and Cadeby N.U.M branches and other trade unions.
Mr. Haywood is married with a son and a daughter.
