Conisborough Miner and his Wife
At Barnsley, on Friday, a miner, named Peter McHale, formerly of Low Valley, or sent to jail for one month for having neglected to maintain his wife, who had become chargeable to the Barnsley Union.
The parties, after living apart under a magisterial order, resided together at New Conisborough, where it was stated the husband had ill used the woman and turned her out of the house.
The woman was destitute, and had to be admitted to the Barnsley workhouse.

Denaby Miners Confession of Bigamy
John William Stenson, a miner, of 43 Annerley Street, Denaby Main, was charged at the Nottingham Guildhall, on Thursday last, with bigamously marrying Florence Hickling of 3 Oakeyne Street, Nottingham, his wife still being alive.
Detective Sgt Gothard stated that at Doncaster on Wednesday the West Riding police handed over Stenson to his care, and will be in charge, prisoner replied, “Yes, that is right.”
The application of the police for a remand was granted.
