A Cruel Denaby Pitman
A Denaby filler, named John Thomas Lee, was summoned at the Doncaster West Riding Police Court, on Saturday, for cruelty a pony in the Denaby pit on the 23rd ult.
Mr. Allen, who appeared for the prosecution, said that a deputy was walking along a stall when heard a noise, and going forward saw defendant give the pony two blows with a shovel.
The pony was knocked sideways, and had been off work for several’ days.
Defendant was ordered to pay 23s. 6d.. including costs
