Dangerous Driving
Conisborough Glass Worker Fined.
Cyril C. Dimaline, glass hand, of Conisborough, was fined £3 and allowed one month to pay at Doncaster police court on Tuesday, for driving a motorcycle to the danger at Conisborough.
It was stated that a party of Herringthorpe cyclists were riding along Sheffield Road, Conisborough, and had almost crossed to the opposite side, where they wished to stop, when defendant travelling at a furious speed, and carrying a pillion passenger crashed into one of them.
Marjorie Dyson, a schoolgirl from Herringthorpe, said that after the crash defendant continued uphill for about 50 yards before he was able to pull up.
He said to the cyclists “I was going well over 30; it was my fault. I will pay for the damage.” They put out their hands in good time to indicate their intention of crossing. A motor car slowed down to allow and pass and they couldnot see the defendant who must have been travelling behind the car.
Dimaline said he was travelling at over 30 miles per hour, but only fast enough to pass the car he had been following. He offered to pay for damages and that was all he heard of the incident.
The chairman (Mr. G. E. Cooke Yarborough), said the bench believed Dimaline to be at fault. He was either travelling too quickly or not keeping a proper lookout.
