Deanery Visit

Sunday School teachers from Rossington, Conisborough, Denaby, Edlington, Warmsworth, Intake (Doncaster), Armthorpe, Doncaster St. Andrew’s, Doncaster Parish Church and Doncaster St. Jude’s attended Conisborough yesterday for the summer outing and service of the Doncaster Deanery Sunday School Association.

The visitors included the Vicar of Doncaster (Canon R. Brook). A service was conducted in the Parish Church by the Vicar, the Rev. W. J. T. Pascoe, and the Rev. H. Atherton (senior curate). The Lessons were read by the Re. B. T. Croft, and the address was given by the Vicar, who offered the visitors a warm welcome. Mr. Pascoe said their function as Sunday School teachers was very important. It was a great privilege and responsibility, but there was tremendous joy to be got from the work. There was no one happier than the Sunday School teacher who really loved the work. After the service, tea was served in the Church Hall, after which the party returned to the church, where a talk was given by the vicar on its history and architecture.

The proceedings concluded with a visit to Consiborough Castle, where Mr. L. Smith, the custodian, conducted the party round.
