Death from industrial disease – Worked in Collieries since he was 18

The Doncaster District Coroner, Mr K.D.Potter, at a Conisbrough inquest on Monday, recorded a verdict of “Death from industrial disease” on Patrick Duffy (68), who died at his home in John Street, Denaby Main, on Saturday.

Mrs Eliza Duffy (71), told the Coroner that her husband had worked in local collieries since he came to this country from Southern Ireland at the age of 18.

He had received a disability pension for pneumoconiosis for a long time.

Dr P.F.J. Sewell, pathologist, said death was due to heart failure with pneumoconiosis and chronic bronchitis as contributory factors.
