Death of a former Conisbrough Official.

His many friends and acquaintances in Conisbrough, have been deeply shocked to learn of the death of Mr Robert Edward Ingleby, for many years Senior Public Health Inspector to Conisbrough Urban Council.

Mr Ingleby, who was 52, died almost 3 years after he left Conisbrough to take up a post with Hornchurch Urban Council, Essex.

Formerly of Warren Road and Cadeby Avenue, Conisbrough, he was a native of Bradford and attended Bradford Grammar School. As a young man. He spent some time in New Zealand and before coming to Conisbrough as Senior Public Health Inspector in 1946 he had held posts in Lancashire and Essex.

He was believed to have been one of the first to have passed a special Smoke Abatement examination which he sat at Nottingham University following a years course in 1957 58.

During the 15 years he and his family spent in Conisbrough he became known as an enthusiastic sportsman. He went grouse shooting and was a keen tennis player. Throughout his stay he was a member of Conisbrough Institute.

Mr Ingleby’s widow, Mrs Mary F Ingleby, also came from Bradford. The couple were married about 24 years ago and had one son, Peter, formerly a student at Mexborough Grammar school and at present studying for a degree at Leeds University. Like his parents, Peter was a member of the Parish Church in Conisbrough and spent some time as a bellringer there.
