Death of Interesting Personality
The death occurred on Tuesday at the age of 67 of Mr. Edgar T Craven, one of Conisbrough’s most interesting personalities. He was born in Hackney, and livied his early life in London. He spent seven years in California, fruit farming, and then spent five years in Switzerland, curing a diseased lung.
He came to Conisborough 26 years ago and for many years was in the service of the firm of Walker and Crawshaw, former owners of the Conisborough brickworks, which were taken over at the beginning of 1919 by Yorkshire Amalgamated Products, Ltd. For some years he was manager of the works.
He left the works some years ago following an accident in which he lost a hand, and after that acted as school attendance officer for a time. He was very well known not only in Conisborough but throughout the district, and generally liked and respected.
He was an enthusiastic member both of the Conisboro’ Musical Society and the Doncaster Musical Society. The funeral will take place tomorrow (Saturday) and there will be a service in the Parish Church.
